To Make a Neem Shampoo
Use an oatmeal dog shampoo mix neem oil into your normal dog shampoo at a rate of 1 to 5 ml for every 100 ml of shampoo. Just mix neem oil into your normal dog shampoo at a rate of 1 to 5 ml for every 100 ml of shampoo.
To Make a Spray
A 0.5% – 1% solution is strong enough as a repellent spray to protect dogs from mosquitoes, fleas etc. However, if your dog already has a problem with fleas or ticks you can use a stronger solution. (I found this too much for two chis, so unless you have a lot of chihuahua, I would make half. It doesn’t keep for more than a few hours)
For 0.5 liters of a 0.5% solution of neem oil dog spray you need:
- 5 ml neem oil (1 tsp)
- 1 ml mild soap or detergent
- 0.5 liter warm water
For 0.5 liters of a 1% solution of neem oil dog spray you need:
- 5 ml neem oil
- 2 ml mild soap or detergent
- 0.5 liter warm water
Method:
- Use warm (not hot!) water, the oil will dissolve much better.
- Mix the warm water with the soap first!
- Then slowly add the oil while stirring vigorously.
- Fill the mix into your sprayer.
- Use immediately it only keeps for a day.
Please note Neem Oil is a natural birth control, do not use on pregnant bitches or dogs that you intend to breed from. (feel free to wash your teenagers in it!)
