Calendar Photo Competition
We are excited to launch our first calendar photo competition and are looking forward to seeing all your lovely chihuahua pictures. We will be picking 15 winners and 2-3 reserve photos. We want the competition to be a fun experience for everybody so here are some rules and guidelines.
Some of the competition rules are specific to the calendar photo competition and are an addition to our general competition rules outlined on our website.
This information is divided into official rules and some guidelines to give you the best chance of your photo making it to the final round of judging.
Rules
The calendar photo competition is open to everybody who enjoys Chihuahua Power.
You must be at least 18 years old.
The chihuahua(s) you submit must be your own dog(s).
The photo you submit must not be subject to anyone else’s copyright.
The photo must not contain a watermark or copyright notice.
The photo must not contain people or show personal information, e.g. address, etc.
Any photos containing inappropriate images will be deleted without notice.
We must have your email address so we can contact you. Please sign in to the mailing list.
The competition has no monetary value but winners will receive a free copy of the calendar.
Chihuahua Power reserves the right to make amendment to the competition rules.
The competition Opens on Friday 7th July 2017 closes on at noon (UTC) on 25th July 2017. Winners will be contacted by email within 5 days. We will need all final copies of photos by 5th August 2017 noon (GMT)
The finished calendar will run from September 2017 to December 2018 there will be 15 winners.
Winning photos will be displayed on Chihuahua Power social media channels.
We may pick additional photos as reserves.
Entries
You may enter up to two photos for this competition. We can only accept entries that come in through the formal upload process. This will be available from Friday 7th and how to do this will announced on social media
Voting
You need to achieve a minimum of 5 votes for any photo on our website’s competition gallery for your entry to progress to our in-house judging panel’s final decision.
You can vote once from your browser’s IP address. This is to minimize the effects of multiple votes skewing the voting totals.
The winners will be picked by Chihuahua Power and a panel of independent judges.
Photo Guidelines
To make sure we have a beautiful printed calendar, the photos need to be high quality. They also need to be big enough to use in production. For this, your original photos should be at least 3600 pixels along their shortest edge. Photos at 16 megapixels or more should be fine. These are large files. So, upload a smaller copy as your competition entry and keep the large original safe so if we contact you if we need it to be sent in to us (a good sign!)
All entries will be considered but we will have to reject any that are unclear, blurred, too dark, too bright, have ‘red eye’, etc. or otherwise break any of the rules listed above.

We are not looking for the perfect Kennel Club chihuahua. We are looking for a dog with character in a nicely composed photo. If you are not confident to take a good photo then get a friend to help.

You will have to do them over separate days. It is set to one a day to stop people doing bulk uploads.

What happened to voting link for calendar picture voting–not showing today ?!! A friend of mine has an entry and I have been voting–today no link?!
Nothing that I am aware of, you can only vote once from on IP address. But to be honest, so many people have not understood the voting that we will just judge all the photos that come in. so don’t owrry about it.

When Nikko is there my friends try and vote and it won t let them. I have 14 votes for him and some aren’t taking the vote into count
You only need five votes to go through to the next round. The vote count is set to five.
I have had many votes for Nikko but don’t see the number of votes moving. Also some of my friends try to vote but say that he isn’t there anymore

Try today, you can only upload one a day. The software does this to stop people bulk uploading and cheating.

Send a photo of them together, but it is meant to be about chihuahuas.
